The Aboriginal Leadership program is specifically tailored to advance the skills of Aboriginal employees wishing to step into a leadership role, or those wishing to develop their leadership capabilities.

The Aboriginal Leadership Program provides a culturally safe and inclusive learning experience where participants develop their skills to become highly effective leaders.

Orientation
Connect with your program colleagues for the first time and enjoy engaging keynote addresses about building your leadership capability from senior leaders in the SA public sector.

Individual assessment

Discover more about yourself as a leader through the Herrmann Whole Brain Thinking assessment. Understand your thinking preferences and how these impact on how you interact with others.

Face-to-face workshops

Learn from highly respected facilitators from Tauondi Aboriginal College and OCPSE's Aboriginal Workforce Partnerships Team. They will work with you on contemporary topics and leadership models delivered in a culturally safe environment.

Networking sessions

Build your network across the SA public and ACCO sectors. Collaborate with and learn from like-minded colleagues from other SA agencies, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and program alumni.

Closing celebration

Celebrate your successful completion of the program and reflect on key learnings with your program colleagues. Senior public sector leaders share their key tips on being a forward thinking and solution focused manager.

The Aboriginal Leadership Program is for Aboriginal public sector employees who wish to invest in their career and develop their workplace leadership and management skills.

This includes:

  • Aspiring managers
  • Newly appointed managers
  • Managers seeking greater confidence to thrive at work

This program is best suited to Aboriginal employees who are yet to undergo professional development delivered by the South Australian Leadership Academy.

Participants must be:

  • of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent;
  • who identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander; and
  • are accepted as such by the community in which he or she lives or has lived.
  • Committed to demonstrating the South Australian Public Sector Values.
  • Ready to develop themselves and others.

This program is run over a four-month period.

Investment:  $4,400 plus GST.

Intake 1 of the Aboriginal Leadership Program (Feb 2024) is being run with allocated places only in accordance with the SLC Allocation model. Future intakes for this program will be publicised on this website.

Participants require agency approval for your nomination.

Please speak to your HR area or executive about participating.

The Aboriginal Leadership Program (ALP) Alumni Program enables past ALP participants to continue to develop, connect and enhance their management skills through training and development sessions, peer support, networking and information sharing.

Upon completion of the program, participants can opt in to receive updates about continuous learning opportunities.
