Salary sacrifice allows employees to arrange their income as a mixture of salary and benefits.

This is an agreement between the employee and their employer. An individual circumstances' may be subject to specific federal taxation provisions, and may increase an employee’s after tax remuneration at no additional cost to their employer.

The decision to salary sacrifice is solely for each employee. Employees are responsible for obtaining their own financial advice when considering salary sacrificing.

The South Australian Government allows public sector employees to access salary sacrifice through the South Australian Government Salary Sacrifice Arrangements (SAGSSA). This program is currently administered by Maxxia, however from 1 July 2024 will be managed by Smart.

There is no action required by employees with current arrangements in place with Maxxia, and more information will be provided to these employees throughout the transition period.
